My dad shared with me some of the ingredients he includes when making his morning smoothies. | For today's smoothie, we filled half of the tall cup with baby spinach. The other half we filled with the following ingredients: we put in about 7 grapes, 4 blackberries, 1 cup of passion fruit, 1 spoonful of extra virgin oil, 1 spoonful of honey, 1 spoonful of Quaker Oats, 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon, one carrot and one half of a banana. I almost forgot, we also squeezed the lemon juice out of one lemon. I think next time, we should only use half a lemon, though. I didn't notice it at first, but an hour later I was still tasting the lemon, a sign that one whole lemon was too much! |
Yesterday evening, Monday, October 13, 2014, my dad and I finally got around to making some time to go grocery shopping together so that I could try out my Magic Bullet Nutrition Extractor for the first time! It was a lot easier to use than I imagined. The last ingredient was water. We had to add water until it reached the line that said "MAX" Now comes the exciting part! We get to screw the lid onto the tall cup and turn it upside down. It turns out the lid is the part that has the blades! We noticed the Magic Bullet comes with two types of lids: the extractor blade and the milling blade. We have yet to discover the difference. My dad asked me what the milling blade is used for and I responded, "that's part of my 20% project! To find out what each part of this Magic Bullet is used for!" So it is part of the discovery process that we are undergoing. I'm glad we had questions as we were using the Magic Bullet because that's what this journey is all about; questions arising out of natural curiosity and that will drive our learning! We screwed the lid on, turned the entire tall glass upside down and placed it onto the red base. Then we gently turned it to make it fit into the small slits (it has 3 of them) and as soon as we plugged it in, it started doing its job automatically! I discovered the The Magic Bullet does not have an on or off button. It just automatically starts as soon as you plug it in. It kind of looks like a chocolate shake to me! Ha! But it tastes nothing like chocolate! It's still yummy, though! I nice healthy alternative. We let it do its job for less than a minute! It is pretty efficient. I was surprised that we didn't even have to let it go for more than just a few short seconds. My dad guided me throughout the process of using the Magic Bullet since it was my very first time using it. The smoothie was delicious and it tasted better than I imagined. I wasn't to sure how it would taste with so much spinach in it, but it was tasty! I will try to post two videos on Twitter and you should also be able to find the two videos in our PLN through google+.

I am so glad it worked the first time! Now, to try peanut butter or more of a citrus filled smoothie or perhaps even a refreshing one with cucumber? Oh, I enjoy experimenting with food. Anyways, I also like that you used Skitch! That tool is one I use often.

Great post Cristal! I love the pics and your use of arrows, etc. Really enhances the pictures. I am a fan of the odd smoothie full of fruits and vegetables that you wouldn't think would mix together to make something tasty :) For breakfast smoothies I like to add almond butter or peanut butter so I can get some protein. My kids love our "Chunky Monkey" smoothie: Dark chocolate Silk almond milk, banana, peanut butter and ice. Soooooo good! Then when I want something to detox me I go for mostly vegetables in this one: cucumber, celery, beet, apple, ginger. Happy Smoothie-Making!
