Discovering that we need to learn how to relearn, un-learn, and relearn.
I graduated from UC Davis with a Bachelor's of Arts in Psychology and a minor in Sociology, with an emphasis on Law and Society. I wanted to become a psychologist, or counselor, and help people sort out their emotions. However, after graduating and coming back home to San Diego, I discovered there was a need for bilingual teachers (2000) and that option appealed to me so I pursued my BCLAD and embarked on a very interesting journey. In the last 14 years I have seen how so much has changed in the field of education and now I feel we are in a pivotal transition period as we enter through a portal of no return. Once you know better, you can't go back. It just doesn't feel right to keep doing things the same way once you've learned a better way. It's amazing how learning new information can change the way you do things. And then I can't help but want to teach others what I've learned.
To sharpen the saw, I like to spend lots of time with my baby nephew of 15 months. He is my very first nephew and I am very much enjoying watching him grow and hit those milestones. We take him to his Gymboree classes and encourage him to explore the world around him. I enjoy watching him experiment with cause and effect reactions, in a safe environment, of course. Emmett is a happy baby who brings much joy to us.
I also enjoy traveling, visiting museums, going on mini-trail hikes, watching theater plays, reading and participating in any type of activity that stimulates the mind.
