As I reflect on my KWL chart, I realize that I still have a long way to go in actually understanding how these enterprise frameworks work. I know that there is a need to implement EA in order for school districts to be more efficient and apply what businesses have been considering best practices, however, now the question is which one is most applicable to the school setting? I would like to be able to understand how each framework would support the educational setting. I imagine it must be very expensive to hire a consultant, so I’d like to know if there is any way a win-win situation can be established with someone who is willing to work with and guide a school district in their implementation of an EA.
I would also like to know if other school districts have already taken the initiative in implementing one of the EA frameworks, or a hybrid of EA frameworks, and if so, what have their results been? Maybe other school districts would like to collaborate and together we can invest in a consultant or maybe different school districts would like to try different frameworks and get together throughout the process to debrief and keep each other posted on how things are working out.
So far, I have learned that at least five different EA frameworks exist and that some are more popular than others. I have learned that the frameworks focus on different aspects of business depending on what their original intent was at inception. I have learned that hybrids can definitely be created depending what your mission, vision and goals are.
